Community Health Outreach & Awareness
- In 2014 Breathe California partnered with IBEW, Greenfield Rotary, Little Friends Pre-School, Marina and Salinas Head Start Programs, South County YMCA, Millennium Housing, and others in health fairs outreaching to 9,400 individuals.
- On May 15, 2014 Breathe California hosted the 4th Annual Clean Air Awards reception at the Monterey Plaza Hotel to recognize three individuals and organizations that are leading the way in improving air quality in the Central Coast Area. The awards garnered press attention and several articles were published regarding the winners’ lung health promoting activities. Visit www.breathecentral.org for a list of winners.
Breathe California provides information on an ongoing basis in response to requests from the community including information and brochures related to lung diseases such as lung cancer, COPD, chronic bronchitis, emphysema, and asthma. BCCC staff also is pleased to discuss lung health issues with the public and to provide referrals where appropriate to our own programs and to other services and programs available in the community.
