Join us as we fight lung disease in all of its forms and work with our communities to protect lung health.

Make a difference... Help promote healthy lungs today.

Breathe California Central Coast (BCCC) was established in 1952 in Monterey. Since that time our staff, board of directors and volunteers have worked diligently to fulfill its mission, fighting to improve the lung health of area residents through development and implementation of grassroots programs tailored to meet real community needs, advocating for policy change, and collaboration with local organizations.

Over the course of its existence our organization has gone through several name changes. On February 3, 2006 in conjunction with four other previously affiliated organizations with offices in San Francisco, San Jose, Sacramento and Los Angeles, we launched a brand-new statewide organization and called it Breathe California.

Although our name has changed, our mission remains the same: Breathe California Central Coast works vigorously at the local level to improve the lung health of people living on the Central Coast. Our programs fall under the general categories of Environmental and Lung Health, Tobacco Control, and Community Outreach.

For a number of years, Breathe California Central Coast was affiliated with the American Lung Association (ALA) and the American Lung Association of California (ALAC). In 2006, Breathe California Central Coast ended its affiliation with the ALA and the ALAC and is no longer affiliated in any way with those organizations. Breathe California Central Coast continues its mission to address lung health and air quality issues critical to the well-being of the communities it serves.
